The highlight of the experience was our tour guide, who was both entertaining and highly informative. His knowledge of the history of Saint-Émilion, the local wine culture, and the region's heritage made the visit engaging from start to finish. The medieval village was beautiful.

The only aspect that could be improved was the wine tasting at the winery. Guests were required to stand for an extended period, which was difficult for my elderly parents. Providing chairs would make the experience much more comfortable. Despite this, it was a delightful and memorable tour that I would happily recommend.

La visite était globalement très intéressante et agréable, avec de belles découvertes et un programme qui permet de profiter pleinement de Saint-Émilion et de son environnement viticole.

La visite de Saint-Émilion était intéressante, même si elle s’est faite un peu « au pas de charge ». Le véritable point fort a été la visite du domaine viticole, où nous avons été accueillis avec beaucoup de chaleur, de respect et de convivialité. Notre hôte a su transmettre avec passion son métier, son savoir-faire et son amour du vin, ce qui a véritablement apporté une dimension humaine et authentique à l’expérience.

En revanche, l’attitude de la guide a malheureusement été décevante. Dès le début du trajet, elle semblait frustrée de ne pas disposer d’un micro dans le bus et a, pour cette raison, choisi de ne pas vraiment assurer les commentaires et les explications pendant le trajet. Cela a été dommage, car ces moments de déplacement auraient justement pu être l’occasion de partager davantage d’informations et de rendre l’expérience encore plus enrichissante.

Au retour, son comportement était également assez surprenant : elle s’est montrée très agacée par les voitures qui, selon elle, roulaient trop lentement, allant jusqu’à demander avec insistance au chauffeur d’accélérer. Cette attitude donnait malheureusement aux clients l’impression qu’elle était impatiente de terminer sa journée et qu’elle en avait quelque peu « assez ».

C’est regrettable, car cela ne correspondait pas du tout à l’image de convivialité, d’élégance et de sens de l’hospitalité que l’on attend d’une telle expérience en France.

Je n’ai rencontré aucune difficulté particulière lors de la réservation ou de l’organisation de l’activité

Oui, je la recommanderais, car le programme est réellement intéressant et la visite du domaine viticole, en particulier, a été une très belle expérience.
En revanche, je recommanderais vivement de revoir le choix de la guide, car son attitude a malheureusement eu un impact négatif sur l’expérience globale. Avec un accompagnement plus chaleureux, enthousiaste et professionnel, cette activité pourrait être une expérience véritablement exceptionnelle.

Not recommended. If you want to taste and learn about wine, go to Bar du Vin across from the tourist office. If you want to go to Saint Emilion do a separate tour.
We were told we were visiting two wineries for tastings but we only visited one and were only offered two small tastings (so not worth it). The tour guide never explained why we didn’t visit the second winery. The tour of the underground church was too much of a Da Vinci Code style of archeology for me to take seriously, and then we were just left in the town for 45 minutes. The tour was done in English and French which slowed everything down, and I felt sorry for the French speakers because the tour guide occasionally only did a piece in English and then asked them “Did you basically get that?”. The tour guide also never told people where bathrooms were, which I think is a really basic job of a tour guide, particularly as we had several older people on the tour.

Interesting but rushed

Our driver and guide were lovely but think the guide was under time pressure to tell us as much as possible and then repeat in French. On the bus, the two French people would talk loudly to each other when she was speaking in English so we couldn't hear. If she had been talking in English for a while they would demand the French version. When in St Emilion, we were led through a pretty church but didn't stop. We were taken into the underground church, which was very hot and stood in one spot. My back became very painful but there was no where to sit and we couldn't leave as we were locked in (not sure about the health and safety of this arrangement). The guide said we would have free time to explore the town but after being so hot and uncomfortable, we went directly for an ice cream, which we had to gobble down quickly in order to get back to the bus. There was no time to visit anything. We moved onto the vineyard, which was very interesting and informative.

Very Boring

The tour guide was very boring and put many of the guests to sleep on the bus ride, then joked about it. We hit a lot of traffic and missed being able to see the town of St Emillion. Had to rush back to the bus after the chapel. The guide kept asking for more samples of the wine at the tasting and we spent too much time there. The chateau didn’t even have the chateau open and we tasted in a bland room with no AC. We should have spent more time in the village and less time at the winery.

Lovely Day but would have enjoyed more time tasting

The tour is well organized and the bus is very clean and comfortable. I found that once we reached our destination, the time standing and listening to people talk was very long and then the actual tasting was rushed. It was also very difficult to hear the person speaking over the sound of equipment for those of us on the edge of the group. We heard almost nothing and it was extremely boring standing for that long (almost an hour) listening to humming of machinery.

I would suggest less time looking at the facility & operations and dedicate more time to the tasting. While people are relaxing and enjoying the tasting, you could speak more about the chateau. At our second Medoc destination there were seats outside in the open air looking at the green space. I would strongly suggest having more seats and doing the tasting outside. It was so much more beautiful than inside and it was a gorgeous day.

De passage à Bordeaux et ayant un vif intérêt pour les vins, j’étais vraiment heureuse d’aller visiter St Emilion et un petit vignoble du coin. Notre guide était charmante mais nous avons dû attendre trop longtemps pour qu’elle communique dans les deux langues. Former 2 groupes aurait été pertinent et nous aurions pu en apprendre beaucoup plus. Quant à la visite du petit producteur, ce fut sympathique. Mais nous avons longtemps été debout sans possibilité de s’asseoir. La moyenne d’âge était élevée . Il faudrait en tenir compte dans le futur, Ce que je déplore c’est les deux dégustations se sont faites debout et sans aucune nourriture pour accompagner le vin. Notons que ça se passait en fin d’après-midi. Une dame a dû s’asseoir à terre s’étant trouvée mal d’avoir bu l’estomac vide. Un croûton aurait été apprécié…

Very Informative and Fun

The presentation and hosting at the winery was excellent. The guide was very knowledgeable as well although I felt being treated unfairly. I am an Asian travelling with my wife and paid each of us at full price. When in San Emilion, I requested a map for each of us and I was refused being told that only one copy was given per couple. That would have been acceptable if it applied to white couples as well. The white couples were given 2 maps each soon after I was refused.

Fun tour for first time visitors but not so much on wine

The guide was enthusiastic. Coach ride was comfortable and driver friendly. Easy to book and meet up directions were clear. The first part of the visit was to St Emilion but the village was way too crowded. The wine tour only took up the last 1.5 hours of the trip - I wish there was more of it. The vineyard was beautiful and we had a great tour around different areas. Even though I understand this was meant to be a bilingual tour, it doesn't make sense if the majority are English speaking tourists. The guide in the vineyard spoke more French than English. It will be better to provide an option for English only tours. All in all it is not really a wine tour. I would not recommend for wine enthusiasts.

Although it is the most popular destination, St Emilion is only a small medieval village and not at all adapted to receive visitors all over the world. I hope you spended a nice time in the underground monolithic church and that also during your free time you managed to get away from the crowd. Concerning the language, we insist of proposing winetours in two languages in order to satisfy also french spoken tourists. Around 80 % of all winetours, organised by other companies and for sell on our websites are only guided in English. It would have been indeed a better choice for you. Sorry for this. Half Day Wine Tour

We were able to book and pay for this online and found that this tour was a great way to get to know a little of Saint-Emilion and the Bordeaux region. We were on a cruise ship and this was much better value than the tours offered on board. The tourist board office (where the tour left from) was easy to find and the staff in there were very helpful and spoke good English. We enjoyed the underground church and looking round Saint-Emilion but it would have been great to have a little more time there. It was interesting hearing about the problems encountered growing grapes organically and using bio-dynamic methods at Chateau Dauphine at the tasting and we were under no pressure to buy. Bruno was a very interesting and helpful guide and coped well with the demands placed on him by some of the passengers! All in all a great tour!

The driver was excellent. The van was spotless clean.Our guide was very good and attentive. All those 3 items met expectation. Now the part that was very disappointing. The wine tasting experience itself. We visited 2 chateau. The latter was significantly more beautiful than the first. The persons who guided our tastings were ok. I was not overly impressed with the knowledge or gentility of either. But the worst part was the wines...the first place presented 2 red wines . One bottle sold for $12.00 and the other for $17. They tasted worst than wines I could have bought at TraderJoes for $10. The tannin bitter after taste was so strong. There was no explanation that you could discard the wine in some " cans" for discard. Then no new glasses were offered for the second tasting which then ofcourse was mixed. The second chateau, s tasting was only slightly better. Again no explanation on where to discard wine. Very poorly done. I have been to tastings in CA in Oregon in Italy in Spain and many in France including Champagne and Burgundy. This was the worst tasting . I was so disappointed. I was prepared to buy and ship bottles back to the U.S. Why would you have us taste bottles at $12 and $17. The second chateau the bottles were retained at 15 and 19. Why would I ever ship wine of such low quality? In Burgundy I was happy to ship bottles that were $50 each. They were that good and that unique. Perhaps you need to classify the tours as avg wine served under $20. And tours that serve wines between 25 and 50 etc. Very disappointed in the quality of the tastings themselves

Nous nous sommes arrêtés qu'à deux Châteaux. Aucun arrêt en cours de route pour permettre les photos. Ce qui nous a plu, ce sont les explications au premier Château ce qui nous permit de mieux comprendre toute la complexité et le travail qui se cache en arrière d'une bouteille de vin. Par contre, les explications au deuxième Château étaient en grande parti une répétition ce qui a pris passablement de temps sur la tournée.. Les organisateurs pourraient voir à améliorer ce point. Finalement, nous avons été TRÈS DÉ^CUS par les dégustations du vin; d'abord par la quantité. Surtout au deuxième Château, une quantité ridicule dans le verre et de plus, aucune possibilité d'une deuxième dégustation même après avoir demandé. Nous avions cru qu'il y aurait un plus grand nombre de dégustation et c'est ce qui nous avait motivé d'utiliser ce service. Très cher pour le service obtenu.

The bus: The bus was extremely uncomfortable; the seats are not designed appropriately to human anatomy; the seats cause back-pain, the lain towards backward which makes even worse to keep the normal human anatomy. The head part of the seats is low and the voyager must always hold the head upwards. The glasses of the windows reflected the light towards inside and it was impossible to watch the outside while traveling. The air-condition was like out of control; the driver did not pay attention to the temperature inside the bus and it became too cold, most of the voyagers had to put on their coats and scarfs including me. The normal inside temperature should be kept between 22-23 Celsius degrees.
The guide: She was kind. But her way of talking was very tiresome, she mostly said "ııı, aaa, eee" between the words and it was vey unpleasant to listen to her. On the way back, she talked a lot with the driver, which I think would cause distraction of the driver while he was driving the bus.
Chateaux: Beautiful chateaux, the most and only pleasant parts of this tour..

Appreciative of wine tour put on by the Tourism Centre in Bordeaux

The people working at the Tourism are super - they are friendly and knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to go in several times to book a tour, obtain information and buy the City Guide for 72 hours, worth every penny. The driver on the wine tour navigated the roads well, and the guide spoke throughout the whole road trip, very knowledgeable. I was really pleased that the Wednesday tour was for the wines in Sautern and Graves section of Bordeaux as I like sweet and not dry wines and specifically had asked for a sweet wine tour, so I couldn't believe my luck The only flaw is that we did end up going to a dry wine chateau near the city of Bordeaux, which is not what I had been told, and to one sweet wine chateau.

The tour of the Sautern wine grove was interesting, well orchestrated and we had the actual tasting in the store area, where they have a well-lit room, and many different varieties on display for sale. The wine was also good.

The second wine grove/chateau is going organic next year, good information, but they did not sell much and that could be that they need to re-vamp their store so that tastings can take place there. The actual store is dark, small and had 3 bottles of wine under plexi-glass, so it was not inviting.

So, I appreciate the experience for such a reasonable price, and the people on the bus tour, the guide and driver were nice.

Aprés de stress parisien, le stress à St Emilion

En descendant du bus , j'a fait un tour rapide aux toilettes , mon épouse était resté prés du groupe. Un instant après, le groupe avait disparu, le guide ne nous avait pas attendu ni communiqué à mon épouse un point de ralliement. Il pleuvait, et nous ne savions pas quelle direction prendre. Ayant quelques difficultés à marcher vite (Parkinson), nous avons longé la route en direction du centre du village, après une descente abrupte d un passage pavé nous avons pu enfin reconnaitre le groupe massé devant l'église troglodyte. Aprés la visite de l'église, nous étions laissés livrés à nous même pou visiter le village à l'aide d'un dépliant indiquant des points de visites mais sans aucunes notions de distance. Une visite guidée du village bien décevante car stressante..la visite du château Laniote parfaite..La 1ere partie est à revoir dans sa conception.

Une expérience intéressante mais...

La visite de Saint-Émilion fut intéressante bien que trop brève.
Le coquet village gagne à être parcouru tranquillement à pied.
Malheureusement, le temps a manqué et la visite libre n'a pu durer que 60 minutes.

Améliorations suggérées:
- Visiter les caves du manoir Galhaud;
- Prévoir la dégustation directement à Saint-Émilion;
- Enrichir l'interprétation du milieu;
- Prévoir davantage de temps sur site;
- Intégrer la visite du clocher de l'église (2 euros à l'office de tourisme).

Très bien pour réservation, règlement, personnel de l'office du tourisme de Bordeaux parfait, la guide dans le bus très bien.
Dommage que le guide du vignoble soit pressé, non passionné par son métier, ne développe pas son propos, répond à moitié aux questions, voire fait des insinuations suspectes quand on pose une question et que la réponse lui semble évidente (ex : dit que pas de livraison en Australie et en Russie. Mais ne dit pas pourquoi. Je lui pose la question, me répond en Australie trop de taxes, en Russie vous savez bien pourquoi, je demande précision, réponse : vous ne savez pas ce qui se passe en ce moment ? Et bien si mais je pensais que c'était peut être pour une autre raison ou qu'avant c'était autrement.
2 vins moyens dégustés, certains voisins ont partagé notre avis à table et dans le bus, idem pour son amabilité.
Avons déjà eu l'occasion de visiter un vignoble en Ardèche, la guide passionnée, durée de visite et de dégustation d'une heure au moins, beaucoup d'explications et de gentillesse, 5 vins dégustés ...Ce monsieur de saint Emilion a à apprendre des guides des"petits" vins Ardéchois

Le trajet et la visite de l'église sous-terraine de Saint-Emilion sont bien pris en charge par le guide.
Par contre, le château grand cru classé est très très loin d'offrir une prestation correcte. Pseudo guide très superficiel n'acceptant pas de question. Les vins de dégustation étaient vraiment très décevants (âpre, astringent, non équilibré et avec un énorme arôme de barrique neuve) servis sans accompagnement.
À 40 euros la bouteille de ce que nous avons goûté, ils ont raison d'exporter la quasi-totalité de leur production...

Really good afternoon trip

We really enjoyed our afternoon trip to two chateaux in the Blaye area. The coach was comfortable and even though it was hot outside, the air conditioning kept us cool. Bruno, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the history of the wine regions and the process itself. His talk on the bus was very informative and interesting. The first chateau we visited was an excellent experience. Again the lady at the vineyard was very knowledgeable and interesting and made the experience enjoyable. My only criticism would be that we had to stand in the heat outside for quite a long time. The tasting experience was very good. The second vineyard was different and interesting too. At the start of the trip, there was some confusion over where the bus was leaving from. My advice would be to arrive at the tourist office at least 15 minutes before the due time so that the guide can take you to the bus which was two streets away. Overall, a very pleasant trip that was good value.

Je trouve que l'organisation de visites de caves et dégustations au départ de Bordeaux est une bonne idée, cependant je regrette plusieurs points :
1 - Nous n'avons aucune information sur le nom des caves que nous allons visiter AVANT de réserver. Pour ma part j'avais réserver "Sauternes et Graves", sauf qu' en réalité nous n'avons pas visiter Sauternes... mais une cave de "Cérons". Si la communication avait été claire, je n'aurais pas réserver.
2 - Les visites bilingues ne me semblent pas idéales. La majorité du groupe dans lequel nous étions était en anglophone donc les guides/stagiaires des deux différentes caves parlaient seulement en anglais et nous avions une traduction-résumé par la guide de la ville de Bordeaux.

Cette visite est en bilingue afin de pouvoir satisfaire nos visiteurs français et étrangers et nous veillons à ce que les explications données en français et anglais soient équivalentes. Le Sauternais est une région touristique qui englobe plusieurs communes et appellations telles que Barsac, Cérons, Sauternes. Le château de Cérons est une propriété viticole qui produit du vin blanc liquoreux mais qui, en effet, n'est pas situé dans la commune de Sauternes même. Nous devrions sans doute être plus précis dans notre communication en mentionnant Sauternais plutôt que Sauternes. Disappointing and good depending on vineyard

We did the tour in the Medoc. The first vineyard (Chateau Lanessan) was disappointing as it was a large run commercial venture (owned by Penfolds) and there were only 2 wines to try. One of them was not even their label and had not been barrel aged at all - it was below average and this was after them showing us their nice barrel room. The 2nd vineyard was Chateau Baudan which is a family run outfit with only 9 ha of vines. There were 4 wines to try here and these wines were all good. It made up for the first winery.
Some offer of food or being able to buy a wine would be good.

An almost flawless experience

The vineyards we visited were very cool and it was a really immersive way to learn about the wine making in the region. The wines we got to try were also so different and delicious.

A couple of less enjoyable factors centre on the beginning and end of the tour. For example, the real confusion around where we were meeting. The confirmation email states to meet at the Tourist Information Centre, but upon arrival, it was heaving with people waiting to speak to advisers and there was no obvious signage to let people on the tour know where to go. In the end, I followed someone in the same situation as me who managed to pin someone down and we had to race to the bus that was parked a couple of streets away - a pretty stressful way to start a tour.

The way back proved stressful too as we hit rush hour traffic and so ended up arriving back late, which impacted on dinner reservations. With clearer signage upon joining and offsetting the tour time slightly to avoid rush hour, and this would have been a flawlessly positive experience.

Booking was straightforward and I would consider recommending the tour to others as a good way to learn about wine making in the infamous Bordeaux region.

Nous étions déçu des prestations aux châteaux :
Pas de l’eau proposer (ni pain ou autre chose)
Premier château pas vraiment prêt. Premier vin oxydé, les vins trop chaud - 2ième visite meilleurs prestations!
2 fois la même information sur des travaux au chai et barrique
Pas de visite dans le vignoble : stade actuel, problèmes maladie, ect.
Top que la guide !!
Nous étions viticulteur dans le Blayais (Chat. Segonzac) et ont eu beaucoup de visite de vos bus le lundi. Nos prestations étaient bien plus riches :
Visite parc, quelques mots dans le vignoble, visite chai et chai à barrique, visite habillage, dégustation accompagner de pain, salami et fromage et l’eau à volonté.

Belle ballade, dégustation "gadget"

Séjournant pour quelques jours dans le Bordelais et ne disposant pas d'un véhicule, nous avons trouvé que cette escapade en car nous permettrait de visiter malgré tout le terroir vinicole de la région.
Ce fut une jolie promenade dans deux vignobles très différents tant par le terroir que par leur philosophie.
La première maison est une exploitation familiale, nous sommes reçus par le propriétaire qui semble passionné. Le fait d'être un grand groupe rend la dégustation "superficielle" dans le sens qu'il est difficile d'échanger .
La deuxième visite est plus "rôdée", les informations donnée par l'hotesse suivent un scenario bien huilé et sont très intéressantes.. Là la dégustation s'avère "gadget": j'ai eu l'impression qu'on nous a fait goûter des vins qu'on avait besoin de vendre...
L'anglais façon "la grande vadrouille " de la guide nous a beaucoup amusés, nous avons cependant eu une pensée émue pour les visiteurs anglophones à qui une grande partie de la visite a dû échapper...
Si pendant un court séjour non motorisé dans la région vous souhaitez déguster des vins, rendez-vous dans un des nombreux bars à vins que compte Bordeaux plutôt que d'effectuer cette excursion.
Cette excursion nous a permis d'effleurer le terroir bordelais et nous a donné envie d'approffondir notre exploration: mission accomplie!

The guide speeded up at all times and it was difficult to follow her since we were a group of more than 50 people. Many times, when I arrived at spot she was already talking and I need to say I was not staying behind because I was taking pictures or anything like that: she began her speech as soon as one or two people arrived at the spot. If I was the third, I was just missing the beginnning. On the other hand, explanations where pretty basic.
The fact that the tour was bilingual also reduced the quality of it.

Médiocre la visite de St Emilion

Le car était à 75% d'anglophones ==> Merci de nous avoir permis de faire un voyage en Angleterre ;(

A St Emilion, et le chemin d'accès à la chapelle souterraine est dangereux, hyper glissant et nous ne pouvons toucher (brulante) la rampe compte tenu du soleil ce jour là.

Le niveau d'anglais de la maitre de chai était minable avec un accent d'un niveau hyper scolaire. Les français ont la réputation d'être mauvais en langue mais là, je n'ose imaginer l'image que cette cave donne.

Quand en plus, un des anglophone se permet de nous dire que les français parlent trop fort : nous étions à ce moment là - 4 personnes civilisés et nous parlions à un niveau sonore comme à une conversation privé !

De plus, la visite de la cave est inintéressante : Cuve en béton - puis lieu de stockage des barriques - puis entrepôt des caisses de bouteille Mais aucune présentation de la chaine d'embouteillage ni de la chaine de production.

==> Je déconseille cette visite, nous apprenons plus de choses à la cité des vins

Concernant la composition du bus, nous ne régulons pas le nombre d'étrangers ou de Français qui participent à la visite. Ainsi, il peut effectivement arriver que le bus soit composé majoritairement de personnes anglophones. Cela n'entrave en rien la qualité du guidage et de la prestation. Réservation simple et efficace sur le net

Explication sur les vignes et la fabrication.du vin assez intéressantes

La visite de 2 caves dans la journee est assez répétitive. Il serait bien de faire une visite et dégustation de vin bien choisi et de faire une autre activité.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié l'accueil et la dégustation au château de seguy. On sent le propriétaire très attentif à la qualité de son vin avec une approche très environnementale. La dégustation était très conviviale accompagnée de produits régionaux.
Autant le chateau du marquis de vauban ne vaut pas le détour. Non seulement on a droit à une dégustation dans une grande salle sur des tables comme a une réunion de travail mais totalement impersonnelle et a la chaine. De plus nous n avons pas aimé ses vins.
